Velkin
Race: Vampire
Unit: Nightstalker Company
Birthplace: Bruma
Weapon Style: Two-stick

In the frozen wastelands of the north, a child was born to a tribe of warriors. This bastard youngling grew up to be a mighty warrior of the tribe. When he was old enough to fight he trained for hours on end with the middle aged warrior chiefs. At night, he would meditate with the elders. This was a tribe of training and perseverance. One great day when Velkin entered his thirteenth year, he prepared for battle. His tribe was going to engage a neighboring village for the right to farm a portion of land. The battle tattoos “honor” and “vigor” written in the language of the elves were put on each his hands with the belief that they would power the swings of his swords.
The battle was long and Velkin had slain many. The sun was hotter than ever that day; the snow was beginning to melt. Many of his tribe members lay dead on the killing field. As he saw the enemy leader in site he charged. Swords drawn, eyes focused, and determination coursing through his veins; Velkin plunged both swords into his opponent’s leg. The helpless leader lay weary on the ground gasping in pain. Velkin, enraged, gave neither mercy nor honor when he destroyed the half-alive leader.
However, Velkin’s victory was short-lived when he was exiled from the tribe for the dishonorable mutilation of the enemy chieftain. With nowhere to go, he traveled south into the great oak forests. He could remember his mother singing to him in the evenings as a child remembering a tale about his brothers that lived in the oak forests of the south. With this personal quest at heart and determination on his mind he set forth to find his brothers.
When Velkin entered his fifteenth year, he succeeded in finding his half-brother Araduin and Bram. He fought with them and their comrades for a while, making great friends and telling stories of wonderment around the blazing fires. Then another fire began to burn in the heart of Velkin. One of the members of the group was Mercaine, an elder vampire, who told Velkin stories of him and his travels. When Velkin would listen to all the great stories Mercaine told, he fell in love. For once in a long time, he had seen new power. His exile had stripped him of all previous power, and to become a vampire would rekindle this lost power. Mercaine saw this ambition in Velkin’s eyes when they talked and offered Velkin the ability to avenge his lost powers.
As a vampire, Velkin needed to be able to walk in the day, so he could continue to learn more about weapons and how to use them, he needed to fight. His mother gave him a necklace when he was young, a necklace that supposedly gave the mighty warriors the ability to power their bodies with different alterations. Sure enough, his necklace could alter the sun’s damage on Velkin thus granting him the ability to pass through sunlight.
He found a sense of home with the fighters of the oak. Araduin became a key asset along with Meroidoc Bodash, a vampire who became like a brother figure to him, and the other fighters. Velkin wanted to prove his worth to his new family just as he did with his old one. Velkin took it upon himself to complete a number of trials for an order of knights. After besting the knights at their games, he was awarded with the sword Excalibur and he was knighted. When he was knighted in front of a whole mass of people the only word that could escape Velkin’s mouth was “Maethodoron!” Not only did Maethodoron now march to battle with full moral but they marched with Excalibur in their arsenal. Velkin has a new family, a great reputation, and he is still thirsty to do more for himself and his brothers.
